When it comes to creating intricate art pieces, no one does it better than the French. Be it the stunning palace of Versailles or the eye-catching pieces of art in the Louvre, there is no shortage of masterpieces from France. So, there is no wonder that some of the most elegant and stunning timepieces of all time also come from the same country. And among French watches, there is no name more synonymous with luxury and royalty than Mugnier. And finally, watch lovers in India can easily be the proud owner of a Mugnier watch as they have partnered with QNET to bring the brand to India.

The Legacy of Mugnier

Launched in 1786 by Etienne Mugnier, Mugnier watches have been a favourite among French royalty, including the likes of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, Philippe I, King Charles X. In fact, the French emperor was so impressed with the work of Etienne Mugnier the Younger that he granted him the title, “Leurs Majestés Impériales et Royales”, making him the watchmaker for the emperor and the court.

The legacy of the house of Mugnier is even older than its creation during Napoleon Bonaparte and extends back to 1786, during the reign of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The royal couple were huge fans of the legendary watchmaker Abraham Louis Breguet, who is widely considered as one of the best watchmakers of all time. It was this skill and ability in horology that was passed on to his master pupil, the elder Mugnier. Today you can find the fine examples of the master watchmaker’s skill and talents in museums, private collections, and auction houses all around the world.
